The Blood of Dawnwalker console version limited to 40fps at launch

When The Blood of Dawnwalker launches next month, players on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S will not have a 60fps performance mode available, according to the latest information shared by Rebel Wolves and Bandai Namco about the game’s console versions. The RPG, helmed by experienced developer Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, has generated significant anticipation prior to its release.

Visual Modes at Launch Limited Below 60fps

On these current-generation consoles, the developers have confirmed two separate graphical settings: the first is a Quality Mode offering dynamic 4K resolution with a target of 30fps, and the second is a Balanced Mode at dynamic 4K aiming for 40fps. Neither mode provides a 60fps option at launch, a decision that has sparked criticism from a portion of the community.

For players considering the PS5 Pro, Rebel Wolves states that this console will also be capped at the same frame rates and resolutions as the base PS5. However, both visual modes promise improved graphic quality on Sony’s upgraded system.

Community Reaction and Feedback

This lack of support for higher frame rates—even for the PS5 Pro—has triggered a wave of feedback from fans. Many have voiced their dissatisfaction and offered that they would gladly take a lower resolution if it meant achieving 60fps gameplay, something they now expect from similar titles. Under recent gameplay footage, responses include, “60 fps on Pro? Cmon guys,” and “It’s 2026, 60 fps is the bare minimum at this point.”

While there has been speculation about a possible 60fps update arriving after launch, Rebel Wolves and Bandai Namco have yet to confirm any official plans for a future patch introducing such a mode.

Leadership and Early Previews

The title’s direction is led by Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, who was the director of The Witcher 3 and held senior positions during the development of Cyberpunk 2077. With his guidance, expectations for The Blood of Dawnwalker are high among RPG fans.

Hands-on previews have praised its inventive combat and original mechanics, including a system with limited time and sandbox gameplay freedom, with early impressions describing it as “one of the more interesting RPGs of recent years” and calling it a potential “breakout success.”

September Launch Approaches

The Blood of Dawnwalker will debut on 3rd September. Positive press impressions remain strong, but the discussion around its frame rate limitations is expected to persist as the release date draws near. Players and the wider console community will continue to monitor any developments regarding additional performance options or forthcoming updates closely.
