To celebrate 40 years of the iconic Castlevania series, Konami is inviting fans to enjoy the original 1986 Castlevania game free of charge on mobile devices. The anniversary festivities also include generous discounts across Castlevania games and a look ahead to a fresh sequel arriving next month.
Classic Castlevania Available on Mobile Until October 2026
Now through 24th October 2026, fans can download the NES debut Castlevania title—which first introduced Simon Belmont’s quest to defeat Dracula—at no cost from the App Store and Google Play. This time-limited promotion is part of an extensive campaign by Konami, which also features digital events and special releases to commemorate Castlevania’s 40th anniversary.
Deep Discounts Across Castlevania Collections
Alongside the mobile giveaway, players can take advantage of significant price drops on several platforms. The PlayStation Store hosts an 80 percent reduction on the Castlevania Anniversary Collection running until 7th October. The Dominus Collection is available at half price, and both the Advance Collection and Requiem: Symphony of the Night & Rondo of Blood pack are discounted by 70 percent.
Meanwhile, PC users can shop a Steam sale held from 24th September to 1st October, which matches the 80 percent cut for the Anniversary Collection. The Dominus Collection also receives a 50 percent discount, and the Advance Collection sees a 70 percent markdown. During the same period, the Lords of Shadow series—including the Ultimate Edition, the Lords of Shadow 2 digital bundle with Revelations DLC, and Mirror of Fate HD—are all 80 percent off.
Belmont’s Curse and Upcoming Release Details
October brings the highly anticipated Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, the latest addition to the franchise launching on 15th October. Players will follow Rose, daughter of Trevor Belmont from Castlevania III, as she wields the Vampire Killer in 1499 Paris. Expect the title to be available for Nintendo Switch, PS5, PC (via Steam), and Xbox Series X/S.
Before the official release, on 1st October, fans can test out the Belmont’s Curse demo, developed by Evil Empire (known for Dead Cells and Rogue Prince of Persia). This demo contains the first chapter of the game, and players’ progress will be transferable to the final version. The demo runs at 60FPS on all launch systems except Switch, which supports 30FPS.
Live Anniversary Events and Concerts Through 2027
The Castlevania 40th Anniversary celebrations will extend with a series of orchestral concerts scheduled for London, Tokyo, and Los Angeles in spring 2027. These events will allow global fans to enjoy familiar Castlevania melodies performed live on stage. For listeners at home, Konami has released the Castlevania: Black & Red soundtrack on popular streaming platforms, providing easy access to the franchise’s memorable music.
From a complimentary download of the first game and steep discounts to brand new adventures and live orchestral music, Konami’s multi-faceted anniversary celebration in 2024 offers new and old fans alike countless ways to experience Castlevania’s enduring legacy.
