Amadeus integrates travel technology with Claude

Anthropic is deepening its collaboration with Amadeus, focusing on integrating Claude—Anthropic’s AI platform—with Amadeus’ travel technology to benefit both developers and professionals across the travel industry.

Claude AI to Power Amadeus Travel Data Integration

According to a recent post on the company’s blog, Amadeus is currently working with Anthropic to link its travel content—such as flight and destination data—directly to Claude Code. Through this collaboration, developers will be able to access Amadeus’ resources programmatically from within the Claude environment, making it easier to create innovative travel products and services seamlessly through AI integration.

Additionally, this partnership is expected to result in a Claude Cowork plugin. Such a plugin would enable travel experts to engage with Amadeus’ system using conversational, chat-based tools, streamlining how agents access real-time bookings, servicing options, and destination updates by simply interacting through Claude.

Developer Access Model Undergoes Transition

This development comes on the heels of Amadeus’ decision—just weeks ago—to close its self-service developer portal, a platform that had offered open access to their technology for a wide range of developers. With this change, Amadeus is pivoting away from public APIs and toward more focused collaborations that leverage AI like Claude to provide enhanced, tailored access for developers and travel professionals.

This contrasts with competitors such as Sabre, which continues to embrace external developer engagement, offering APIs and building out an agentic marketplace to extend its travel shopping, booking, and servicing technology to a broader innovation network. Unlike Sabre’s open approach, Amadeus has historically chosen to prioritize access for its strategic partners over the general developer public.

Conversational AI and the Future of Travel Tech

The rise of AI-based assistants such as Claude is rapidly transforming where software is developed and daily business in the industry takes place. Travel technology firms are responding by unlocking more of their booking and service infrastructure for integration with intelligent assistants, enabling both developers and professionals to connect with complex travel data through simple, chat-first experiences.

By partnering with Anthropic, Amadeus signals an accelerating shift toward conversational, AI-powered workflows within the travel industry, streamlining the process of retrieving comprehensive travel data and interacting with operational systems via natural dialogue.

As artificial intelligence continues to change how tasks like workflow automation and customer support play out in travel, Amadeus’ alliance with Anthropic signals a wider movement across the sector: advanced AI tools are becoming front-line interfaces for building, organizing, and booking travel—not just background enhancements.
