TikTok Shop sees growth in high-ticket brand sales

TikTok Shop Emerges as a Major Platform for High-Value Purchases, Brands Adapt Strategies

Brands focused on bulky and high-value items are changing their merchandising, marketing, and fulfillment practices as customer faith in TikTok Shop’s capabilities for reliability and logistics continues to grow, reflecting major shifts in the social commerce arena.

High-Value Products Gain Momentum on TikTok Shop

The marketplace on TikTok Shop now actively supports products like comforters, LED face masks, and even above-ground pools, which were rarely linked to social commerce in the past. This evolution—driven by enhanced consumer confidence and better logistics—indicates a departure from TikTok Shop’s early image as a preferred channel for quick, lower-value fashion and beauty purchases.

Since joining TikTok Shop in fall 2025, direct-to-consumer business Mellow Sleep has seen impressive sales of its CloudAlign pillow ($50) and MarshMellow comforter (starting at $85). In less than a year, Mellow Sleep surpassed 50,000 reviews from organic creators and collected over 20,000 five-star customer reviews. According to founder Chad Keller, the brand initially did not set out to build its identity on TikTok, but creator-generated content has offered unique authenticity and drawn heavy customer engagement. Larger, recognized brands such as Pacsun and Skims have also contributed to strengthening TikTok Shop’s marketplace reputation.

The importance of collaborating with creators is increasing, Keller noted, citing an example of a TikTok creator’s monthly gross merchandise value (GMV) soaring from $80,000 to $1.5 million in ten months. Improvements in TikTok Shop’s fulfillment options, like the Fulfilled by TikTok (FBT) program, are assisting in supporting higher-value sales. Still, some obstacles remain, such as the platform’s requirement for shipping domestic orders within two business days—a timeframe that can be challenging for smaller brands selling hefty products. Mellow Sleep’s solution is to employ a hybrid fulfillment model, using both in-house resources and FBT depending on the customer’s location. Keller is seeking greater transparency and simplicity in fee structures, particularly as reliance on FBT grows, but acknowledges TikTok Shop’s willingness to adapt in response to merchant feedback.

Optimizing Fulfillment and Creator Collaborations

Another organization benefiting from TikTok Shop’s momentum is Spreetail, a multi-brand seller collaborating with brands specializing in home products. Chief Marketing Officer Amit Dodeja credits rising consumer assurance in TikTok Shop for fueling the recent increases in direct sales. “Consumers feel TikTok Shop is far more trustworthy given that the marketplace has matured over time,” he commented, pointing to a notable shift from earlier hesitancy.

For brands working with Spreetail, sales of items like above-ground pools and spas jumped by 125% year-over-year, outpacing other marketplaces by a factor of five. Outdoor furniture recorded a growth of 275%, and lawn & garden categories came close to 150% growth. Pools generally start at $150, while saunas are priced from $2,000. Dodeja points out, “our price points are probably four to five times higher than the average price point on TikTok Shop, and that continues to do well for us.”

Dodeja attributes much of this success to TikTok’s visually engaging content, which makes it easier for consumers to research luxury or technically advanced items. Spreetail manages its delivery operations directly and has collaborated with TikTok to decrease delivery times from five days to two days in recent months. The focus for the future lies in refining multi-brand coordination and enhancing creator partnerships, including more effective content briefs and commission planning.

Shift in Consumer Purchasing Behavior and Challenges Ahead

Mounting evidence shows that TikTok users are increasingly comfortable making substantial purchases right on the app. A survey done by Envision Horizons, an Amazon-focused agency, found that 51% of just over 1,030 people had bought a luxury product—tagged at $100 or more—via TikTok Shop. CEO Laura Meyer confirms greater client interest in joining the platform, but she highlights the difficulties of product seeding at both ends of the price spectrum.

Meyer encourages brands dealing in higher-value products to select creator partners with care, since only about 5-10% of affiliates yield significant results. She recommends reviewing a creator’s historical partnerships and content consistency to maximize collaboration value. Yet, despite emerging progress, not all brands see TikTok Shop as a major revenue generator—Mellow Sleep, for instance, reports that TikTok is still a primary discovery channel, with most transactions being single-item sales. By comparison, larger, multi-item orders are more frequently placed through the brand’s direct-to-consumer website, suggesting that TikTok Shop has not fully matured into a transaction-centric marketplace like Amazon.

In summary, the evolution of TikTok Shop’s delivery infrastructure, the rapid development of its influencer ecosystem, and growing buyer trust are opening new avenues for brands wanting to sell higher-ticket items and generate profit on the platform.
