Target holiday catalog adds toys and handwritten wish list options

This year, Target has rolled out its largest digital holiday kids catalog to date, blending interactive tools with a wide-ranging selection of products and integrating technology to merge digital and analog shopping journeys.

Holiday Toy Shopping Transformed by Target’s Digital Catalog

For the 2024 holiday season, shoppers can explore a digital holiday kids catalog that lists around 500 toys, games, and gifts. Featuring built-in product demos and video reviews, the catalog creates an engaging experience. Customers are able to double-tap any product to quickly save it to a wish list or add it to their cart, and these wish lists can be effortlessly shared with others.

Innovative Tech Links Print with Digital

Target has enhanced this year’s catalog with technology that connects its print and digital versions. Shoppers can use a list-scanner to upload handwritten wish lists—made using the print catalog—straight into the Target app. Each print page includes a unique QR code, delivering direct access to matching online product pages, giving families a convenient way to switch between offline and online shopping as they prepare for the holidays.

Emphasis on Value and Exclusive Products

Value stands out in the 2024 catalog, where “affordable favorites” start at approximately $5. Shoppers will find over 1,000 products priced under $10 among Target’s toy offerings, appealing to families who are managing stricter holiday budgets. This pricing strategy reflects consumer expectations for elevated gift and holiday item costs this year.

Along with the comprehensive catalog, the retailer has published the “Bullseye’s Top Toys List” featuring 50 must-have toys. Of the toys on this list, over half are Target exclusives, with more than 20% of the overall toy selection available only at Target. Both digital and in-store displays sort products by age, interests, and types of play, helping families and gift buyers quickly pinpoint the best choices.

Competitive Pricing in a Cautious Climate

The debut of this holiday catalog builds on recent price cuts as part of Target’s strategy to better serve cost-conscious customers. Just last week, the retailer marked down around 2,000 home, apparel, and accessories items, and these reductions come after cutting prices on roughly 3,000 products earlier this spring. These steps aim to attract shoppers seeking value during a period of heightened financial caution.

Strengthening Target’s Holiday Marketplace Position

Target’s modernization of its holiday kids catalog accompanies wider initiatives to affirm its place as a leading retailer. The company’s most recent quarter saw net sales climb 5.3% year over year to $26.5 billion, while net earnings almost doubled, reaching nearly $1.9 billion.

With this revamped digital offering, a focus on exclusivity, and pricing aimed at today’s value-driven shopper, Target is positioning itself to serve both budget-minded guardians and children making 2024 holiday wish lists.
