Final Fantasy Resonance mod brings back Ariana Grande character

Nearly 1,300 Brave Exvius Characters, Including Ariana Grande, Added by Modders to Final Fantasy Resonance Demo

Innovative modders have taken the Final Fantasy Resonance demo and used it to reintroduce nearly 1,300 characters from the discontinued Brave Exvius mobile game. This massive roster addition brings back notable guest characters such as Ariana Grande and Katy Perry, along with crossover icons like Kingdom Hearts‘ Sora and 2B from Nier Automata—well ahead of Resonance’s upcoming official release next month.

Character Library Grows Through FFR Vision Studio Mod

By utilizing the FFR Vision Studio mod, the Resonance demo’s range of summonable “Visions”—the franchise’s term for playable heroes—has ballooned with close to 1,300 units ported from Brave Exvius. This effort encompasses every guest character ever available in the original mobile title, whether or not they had been confirmed for a place in Resonance’s official lineup.

The core experience of Final Fantasy Resonance takes inspiration from Brave Exvius, but it is positioned as an ambitious reimagining rather than a simple remake or direct port. Resonance updates the visuals and gameplay approach, building fresh layers upon the familiar narrative and mechanics of its predecessor.

Modding Restores Controversial Guest Stars Like Ariana Grande

Producer Keisuke Nakashima told Kotaku that “Ariana Grande’s character would not fit within the vibe that we’ve created for Final Fantasy Resonance.” Nevertheless, modders chose to welcome Grande and other headline-grabbing cameos—such as Katy Perry—back into the fold, giving fans the option to enjoy these colorful crossovers once more. Although these guest appearances were formerly divisive for their tone, they now enjoy a kind of cult appreciation for adding camp and flair to the Brave Exvius legacy.

The Vision feature enables summoning iconic Final Fantasy heroes like Cloud, Lightning, and Cecil to assist in combat. Thanks to the FFR Vision Studio mod, players now have access to a dramatically expanded lineup, tapping into a wealth of fighters previously left out of Resonance’s official list of playable characters.

Development Roadmap Heralds More Mod Features

Development on the FFR Vision Studio project remains active and ongoing, according to a recent blog post outlining plans and upgrades. The creator is focused on refining character animations and developing an in-depth skill dictionary that matches Brave Exvius abilities, making it easier and more authentic to import each unit. There are also considerations to add new side quests that could grant players access to specific Visions, enhancing the depth of Brave Exvius content within Resonance.

Dedicated Fanbase Backs the Expanding Mash-Up

Brave Exvius, now defunct as a live mobile game, previously drew criticism for some gameplay mechanics and its unique roster of guest stars; however, the latest modding efforts are breathing new life into those elements for fans old and new. Users can find updates and discussions about these mods on the specialized Reddit thread, where the mod developer and community share their enthusiasm and continue to push the boundaries of Resonance’s experience.

As Final Fantasy Resonance prepares for its full release next month, these community-driven mods have already dramatically expanded what players can expect, ensuring that even the most unexpected characters remain part of the adventure.
